The Moon moves

The Moon orbits the Earth. Each orbit takes 28 days. This is called a lunar month.

The half of the Moon facing the Sun appears bright. The half of the Moon facing away from the Sun appears dark. However, we cannot always see all of the bright side. That is why the Moon seems to change shape. There are four shapes called the Moon phases.
